When should you take the SATs?
Most students take the SATs for the first time during late winter or early spring of their junior years. Many seniors take the test in October, though most colleges will look at November and December scores, and schools with rolling admission will look at Januaryand March scores as well.
When should you prepare?
Start to prepare no less than 2 months before your test date- 3 months is ideal. Students entering their junior years may find it helpful to begin preparing during the summer, with a few refresher sessions before the PSATs and SATs.
